Pakistan Studies/The Pakistan Research Center of Inner Mongolia Hongde College of Arts and Sciences was established in 2014. Its founding demonstrates the College's commitment to implementing the national principles and policies aimed at fostering China-Pakistan friendship.
Since its inception, the Center has leveraged the opportunities presented by the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor" to strengthen ties with the Pakistani government, educational establishments, and scientific research institutions. Its focus areas include educational cooperation and exchange between China and Pakistan, research on cultural equivalence and utilization, and studies on Pakistan's economic development.
The Center promotes China-Pakistan exchanges and fosters multi-dimensional, broad-ranging cooperation in economy, trade, education, culture, civil society, and government relations through organizing international seminars, bilateral visits, educational and cultural exchanges, and forming dedicated research teams. These efforts aim to enhance connectivity between the two countries, contribute to the overall economic and social progress of China and Pakistan, and explore a more promising path for sustainable development between Inner Mongolia and Pakistan.
Core Research Areas:
Cultural Studies on Pakistan: Focusing on cultural differences among Pakistani provinces, the cultural adaptation of Pakistani students in China, and the cultural experiences of the Chinese community in Pakistan.
China-Pakistan Education Exchange: Centered on the study of Chinese language education in Pakistan and implementing student exchange projects between the two countries.
Diplomatic Relations: Examining Pakistan's diplomatic relations with neighboring countries and major extra-regional powers, their implications for China, and potential countermeasures.
Pakistan's History and Culture: Dedicating effort to systematizing Pakistan's history and cultural evolution, and facilitating Sino-Pakistani cultural exchanges.
Pakistan's National Security and Terrorism Issues: Analyzing the security situation in Balochistan and the impact of terrorism on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), along with corresponding countermeasures.
Ethnic and Religious Issues in Pakistan: Investigating the relationships between Pakistan's major ethnic groups, issues concerning immigrants, sectarian conflicts, state-building, and their impact on China with proposed responses.
Resources and Energy Security: Addressing Pakistan's resource development, research on clean energy projects, and the institutional constraints and models of international cooperation facing Pakistan's energy sector.
Research Scope:
The Center's research encompasses both basic and applied studies. In basic research, it conducts theoretical explorations into Pakistan's national security, counter-terrorism, history, culture, education, ethnicity, religion, energy, and diplomacy. The Center regularly holds academic exchanges and seminars and publishes its research findings. In applied research, it actively promotes China-Pakistan friendship and facilitates exchanges and cooperation between the two nations in education, culture, and society.
Since its establishment, the Center has forged strong relationships with the Pakistani government, universities, institutions, and enterprises. Through a series of practical exchange projects, it has effectively promoted multi-faceted exchanges between China and Pakistan, strengthened the bonds of friendship, and contributed to serving the national "Belt and Road" strategy.
